Beetroot and time

Yesterday I picked my first crop of beetroot of the year. In previous years I have been disappointed with the flavour of my home grown beet, this year I have grown a different variety (perfect 3) which tastes much sweeter than boltardy and crimson king.

So this first batch is now pickled and I am ready for the next batch.

Today is the last day of term for me but this year the holidays will be so much busier than usual for me with two family members needing extra support. Luckily this support will include lots of art, swimming in the sea, walking and other outdoor activities which are some of my favourite pastimes. The difficult bit will be motivating this person at the same time as caring for my mother as she convalesces after an operation.
